Information

In March, potted flower markets across various regions gradually entered the spring sales season, with brisk transactions in small potted plants and seasonal flowers coming to market.

Shanghai

In March, the Shanghai potted flower market was relatively subdued. Due to reduced demand for public floral decorations, most potted plant sales declined compared to the same period in previous years. Among green plants, Devil's ivy continued as a leading product, but its sales significantly decreased, with 18 cm pots priced between 6.0 to 7.0 yuan each. Large green plants like the Money Tree, Devil's ivy columns, and Fortune Trees maintained stable prices, but their sales noticeably declined. Small potted plants from Guangdong also saw a significant price drop, with Coarse grass pots dropping from 13.0 yuan to 10.0 yuan.

The variety of available flowering grasses increased, leading to gradually decreasing prices. Lupin pots dropped from 15.0 yuan at the beginning of the month to 12.0 yuan by month's end. Petunia pots fell from 15.0 yuan to 10.0 yuan, and Marguerite daisies dropped from 10.0 yuan to 8.0 yuan. Among indoor flowering plants, Anthuriums sold relatively well and maintained stable prices. Pineapple plant sales decreased, as did their prices. Orchids, especially left over from before the New Year, saw a roughly 15% price decrease compared to the previous year, with 'Hot Pepper' and other bright flowering varieties priced at 20.0 yuan per pot and mixed color flowers at 25.0 yuan per pot. Guangzhou

During March, the Guangzhou potted flower market saw relatively high sales of Money Trees, Jade Plants, Devil's ivy, Coarse grass, Dieffenbachia, Peace Lilies, and other small decorative potted plants. The primary sales in flowering potted plants were Anthuriums, Pineapple plants, Orchids, and flowering shrubs. Anthurium varieties were diverse, including 'Alabama', 'Proud Sun', 'Trensa', 'Ruby', 'Red Bambino', 'Michigan', and 'Little Pride', among others. Mainstream Pineapple plant varieties like 'Flat-Top Red' and 'New Red Star' displayed a clear quality-price correlation, with lower prices for average quality. Sales of Dendrobium orchids, Chinese orchids, and hybrid orchids were comparatively high, with limited sales of large Cattleyas and Phalaenopsis orchids at lower prices. Mini potted plants like the Longevity Flower and Miniature Roses were popular, often sold in baskets or as combined potted arrangements. Herbal potted flowers and ornamental grasses held a significant market share. Woody flowering potted plants like Azaleas, Dragon Boat flowers, Big Red Flowers, and Hydrangeas saw substantial use in projects, with relatively stable prices. In March, the Qingzhou market saw a 5% to 10% increase in the volume and price of flower transactions compared to the previous month. Medium and small-flowered transactions primarily involved 'Sashimi', 'Cherry Blossom Princess', 'Crystal', 'Baby', and 'Tricolor Bird'. Dendrobium orchids and Miltoniopsis gradually came to market, but their transaction volume was lower than usual.

Among foliage plants, a large volume of aromatic plants came to market, with transactions surpassing Jade Plants in revenue. Lavender, Mint, and Mosquito-repellent Trees were hot sellers. Jade Plant transactions mainly involved 5-inch pots, showing a trend towards miniaturization.
